Downtown Monterey Parking Spaces Become Parklets During (PARK)ing Day on Friday, September 20

On Friday, September 20 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Alvarado Street, the City of Monterey will participate in (PARK)ing Day, an annual event that transforms parking spaces into temporary parklets. These mini parks will feature green spaces, outdoor seating and fun and educational booths from various City departments, school groups and nonprofit organizations. NEWS RELEASE IN PDF

In the Mindful Yoga and Meditation Workshop, flow between stillness and movement with yoga and guided meditation. The yoga practice will incorporate choices and modifications to be suitable for your personal needs. Chairs and props will be provided. Measure S Road Resurfacing Schedule (Phase One) has been released. Improvements coming to Casanova Oak Knoll, Villa Del Monte, Del Monte Grove Laguna Grande, Fishermans Flats and Deer Flats neighborhoods from September 18 to October 3. Schedule is subject to change. SCHEDULE IN PDF

Background: Measure S was approved by 82% of voters in November, 2018 as a continuation of Measure P. It authorized a 1% local district tax (sales and use tax) to be used “to address significant deferred maintenance by fixing streets, sidewalks, and potholes; improve related access and safety for senior citizens, disabled residents, and others; and repair its 100-year-old storm drain system to protect our beaches/Monterey Bay.” Learn more at monterey.org/fixingstreets.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City of Monterey has prepared a Negative Declaration, pursuant to the requirements of CEQA, for Old Capitol Site General Plan Amendment to Park and Open Space and Zoning Map Amendment to Open Space.

The proposed Negative Declaration and Initial Study, as well as referenced documents, are available for review at the City of Monterey, Planning Office, Colton Hall, 1st Floor, 570 Pacific Street, Monterey, CA 93940 and on the City website at: https://monterey.org/Services/Community-Development/Planning.  In accordance with time limits mandated by State law, written comments on this Negative Declaration and Initial Study will be accepted from:
