Residential Structure Fire in Monterey

Monterey Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire at 4:30 a.m. on Friday, January 19, 2024, in the 700 block of Lobos Street in Monterey. On arrival, fire crews found a working fire with heavy fire in the attic and living room. Crews were able to contain the fire to the area of origin and kept fire from further spreading. Fire crews remained on scene overnight. 

The residence sustained significant fire and structural damage with an initial estimated loss set at approximately $200,000. No injuries were reported. Residents were displaced and are working with Red Cross. Monterey Police, the Monterey Building Official, CAL FIRE and the Presidio of Monterey Fire Department assisted with the incident. The cause of the fire is under investigation but not considered suspicious.
