On August 17, 2023 at approximately 12:36 P.M., a Monterey Police Officer received a suspicious text message on his department issued cell phone from an unknown subject. The subject appeared to be texting the wrong number and unaware he was texting a police officer. The subject proceeded to text the officer that he was in Monterey and in possession of a firearm. The subject requested assistance in confronting a group of males for an unknown reason.
