05/09/2018: Monterey Amberjacks Baseball Return to Monterey for Season Two

The Monterey Amberjacks professional baseball team is back for season two in Monterey this summer. The season is scheduled to begin with two Spring Training workouts on Monday, May 21 and Tuesday, May 22. Opening Night is scheduled for Friday, June 1 at 6:30pm.

TRAFFIC ALERT: Tree Pruning to Close Lanes on Fremont Street from May 8-9

The City of Monterey will be pruning trees and shrubs along the Fremont Street medians on Tuesday and Wednesday, May 8 and 9. On Tuesday, the eastbound center lane (Camino El Estero towards Camino Aguajito) will be closed. Work will continue on Wednesday, with the westbound center lane closed (Camino Aguajito towards Camino El Estero). The work will occur between the hours of 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Take alternate routes to avoid traffic delays. NEWS RELEASE IN PDF

05/01/2018: Tree Planting Projects Completed for Arbor Day

Thank you to all of the volunteers who came out to our Arbor Day event! We hosted two volunteer tree planting projects at Quarry Park and Laguna Grande Park last Friday. We planted Sycamores, Buckeyes, Western Redbud, Monterey Pine and Big Leaf Maples. Monterey celebrated being an Arbor Day Foundation "Tree City USA" for 36 years. 04/27/2018: Narcotics Arrest

On April 26, 2018 at approximately 4:40PM, the Peninsula Regional Violence and Narcotics Team (PRVNT), with the assistance of the Seaside Police Department, Marina Police Department, California Highway Patrol, and the US Drug Enforcement Administration, served a search warrant in the 1500 block of Vallejo Street in the City of Seaside. During the search, Investigators located thirteen ounces of methamphetamine, narcotics packaging materials, a loaded handgun, and over $35,000 in cash. NEWS RELEASE IN PDF

City Council Meeting

City Council meetings are open public forums where the Council makes local laws, policies, and basic decisions relating to the City. The Monterey City Council meets on the first and third Tuesdays of each month at 4 and 7 p.m. in the Council Chamber, 580 Pacific Street. Meetings are broadcast live on the Monterey Channel and streamed on the web.

This meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, July 3. Please check back 72 hours prior to the meeting time to be sure that the meeting is taking place, and to view the agenda materials.​
