The air quality in Monterey County is being adversely impacted by the wildfires in Northern California. As a result, the Air District has issued an air quality advisory requesting that wood burning be suspended while we experience significant levels of smoke from the wildfires up north (http://mbard.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/WildfireSmokeAdvisory_10.11.2017.pdf). To help in this effort, the City of Monterey has banned beach fires on City and State-managed beachs until further notice and the advisory is lifted. Thank you for your cooperation.
The City is pleased to share the below information related to the opening of the Housing Choice (formerly known as Section 8) waitlist.
Please note that the waitlist will be open from October 16th through October 31st only. Applications will be available and accepted electronically only with selections done through a computerized lottery system.
This waitlist does not open up all that often. Receipt of a Housing Choice voucher can lead to permanent housing solutions for qualified households.
