Printing From a Library Internet Computer

On the Internet workstation, click the printer icon or choose Print from the File menu, click Print in the Windows Print box then click Send in the Print Document box
Click Lock Workstation or log off before leaving the Internet workstation.

By default, Internet workstation prints go to the Print Release Station.
Sign in at the Print Release Station near the Conference Room using your Library Card Number and PIN or your Visitor Pass ID.
Step Three: Pay
Deposit cash in the coin tower next to the Print Release Station.
You may also deposit funds into your printing account at the Library Help Desk.
The coin towers accept nickels, dimes, quarters, and $1 and $5 bills.

Highlight your document(s) in the Show Print Jobs window and press the Print button.
The Print button will be grayed out until you have deposited sufficient funds to print the selected documents.
Close the Show Print Jobs window when you are finished.
Printing From a Library Laptop
Step One: On the Library Laptop
On the Library laptop, click the printer icon or choose Print from the File menu and click Print in the Windows Print box.Your job is immediately sent to the Print Release Station. You will not see any confirmation on the laptop screen.
Do not leave your laptop unattended while you print your document.
Some printer features are not available on the wireless network.

By default, wireless prints go to the Print Release Station.
Sign in at the Print Release Station near the Conference Room using the ID you chose when you logged in to the Wireless network. If you have forgotten this ID, browse http://192.168.52.240:8080 on the laptop
Step Three: Pay
Deposit cash in the coin tower next to the Print Release Station.
The coin towers accept nickels, dimes, quarters, and $1 and $5 bills.

Highlight your document(s) in the Show Print Jobs window and press the Print button.
The Print button will be grayed out until you have deposited sufficient funds to print the selected documents.
Close the Show Print Jobs window when you are finished.
Personal Laptop

Step One: On your computer
Make sure you have installed the Library printer on your computer and selected it for printing. Print as you normally would. Your job is immediately sent to the Print Release Station. You will not see any confirmation on the laptop screen.
Do not leave your computer unattended while you print your document.

Sign in at the Print Release Station near the Conference Room using the ID you chose when you logged in to the Wireless network. If you have forgotten this ID, browse http://192.168.52.240:8080 on the laptop

iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch
Step One: Log into the Wireless Network
Before you can print from your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch, you must log into the Library wireless network. In WiFi settings, tap Monterey Public.
When the Log In screen appears, enter an ID that you will use to claim your print job. This ID can be any letters or numbers you choose. Tap Accept.


Step Two: Send your print job
In any iOS app that supports AirPrint printing, tap the share icon







Under Printer Options, tap Select Printer. Under Printer, tap publicprinter. The Printer Options screen now displays publicprinter in place of "Select Printer". Tap Print.

Connecting your Windows laptop to the printer
Note that the Windows screens may look different depending on the version of Windows you are using.
Log onto the Monterey Public Library wireless network or return to http://192.168.52.240:8080 on the wireless network.
You will see a screen similar to this one. Copy the printer URL information listed under publicprinter (http://192.168.52.240:631/printers/publicprinter).

Click on the Windows button in the bottom left of your screen. Click on Control Panel in your Start Menu.

In the Control Panel, click on Printer.

Choose Add a printer near the top of the window.

Choose Add a network, wireless or Bluetooth printer.

Choose Stop and then click on The printer that I want isn’t listed.

Choose Select a shared printer by name and paste the printer address information you got from the wireless login page in the first step of this guide.

Under Manufacturer choose HP.
Under Printers choose HP LaserJet 6P.

You will see a screen saying the printer has installed successfully.

The new printer will be listed in Devices and Printers or Printers.

You can now begin printing. Pick up your print jobs at the Left Print Release Station using your login ID visible in the first step of this guide. Return to printing instructions.
Connecting your Mac laptop to the printer

From the Dock or Applications folder, open System Preferences

Click on Print & Fax.

Click the + under the list of printers to open the Add Printer box.

Click the IP icon button at the top, if it is not already selected.
Protocol: select Internet Printing Protocol - IPP.After Address: enter 192.168.52.240:631.
If using Mac OS 10.3 or earlier, leave out :631After Queue: enter /printers/publicprinter.
If using Mac OS 10.3 or earlier, leave out /printers/ leaving only publicprinter.
After Name: you may enter any name to help you remember that this is the Library printer.
After Print Using: choose Select Printer Software...

In the Printer Software window, select HP LaserJet P4010 Series.If HP LaserJet P4010 Series does not appear, select
HP LaserJet Series PCL 4/5 or
HP LaserJet 6P/6MP - PostScript.Click OK.

Click Add.

If you see the Installable Options window, click Continue.

The new printer will appear in the Printers list.

You can now begin printing. Pick up your print jobs at the Left Print Release Station using your login ID. Return to printing instructions.
