RESIDENT PARKING PROGRAM - Survey Results
Update December 14, 2021:
The City of Monterey is evaluating options for the Residential Permit Parking Program, the Resident Parking Discount Pass, and the Monterey Locals Parking Program. An online survey was conducted in summer 2021 to gather feedback from business owners, employees, and residents about parking citywide. The survey received 491 total responses between August 25, 2021 and September 24, 2021. The survey results will be used to evaluate parking policy and operational adjustments. The City aims to improve financial sustainability and enhance the overall parking experience. There will be additional opportunities to provide feedback throughout the process.
The April 14 meeting provided some context, overall program objectives, and focused on resident feedback about parking challenges to help improve the program to better serve the residents.

PARKING PROGRAM IMPROVEMENTS PRESENTATION
Update, April 21, 2021: Here's a recap of the April 20 Regular Monterey City Council Meeting presentation on the City of Monterey Parking Programs. We have made extensive enhancements to physical infrastructure and technology to improve user experience for residents and visitors using our parking garages, lots, and street parking. Please see the a PDF of the presentation slides and the video on-demand of the presentation by Parking Superintendent Cristie Steffy.
The City of Monterey operates 31 parking facilities with approximately 3,500 off-street parking spaces. Our facilities range from 10-space parking lots to the 1003-space Cannery Row Parking Garage. For your convenience parking lots and garages are located throughout the City. Affordable, safe and clean parking is never more than a few blocks away from where you want to be! In addition to off-street parking spaces, there are over 3,000 on-street spaces in the Downtown, Cannery Row and Lighthouse areas of the City.
The City's parking management program is designed to improve parking and traffic flow in our City. The Parking Division works with businesses, residents, institutions and visitors alike to meet their diverse parking needs. We count on the support and cooperation of everyone to make our parking management program a success and to enhance pedestrian safety, smooth traffic flow and to allow public transit and emergency vehicles to reach their destinations. The Parking Division operates under the Public Works Department.
