Public Garages and Lots

The City of Monterey operates 31 parking facilities. These facilities range in size from 10 space parking lots to the 1003 space, award winning Cannery Row Parking Garage. These facilities total approximately 3,500 off-street parking spaces.

For your convenience these parking lots and garages are located throughout the City. Affordable, safe and clean parking is never more than a few blocks away from where you want to be! In addition to the off-street spaces mentioned above, there are over 3,000 on-street spaces in the Downtown, Cannery Row and Lighthouse areas of the City.

Public Parking GARAGES

CANNERY ROW

Located on Foam Street (601 Foam Street) between Hoffman and Prescott Streets. Best parking for Cannery Row, the Aquarium and the Coastal Trail. A flat rate will be charged at entry, Visa or MasterCard accepted. Monthly permits available. Maximum vehicle height is 6-feet 10-inches. Monthly Bicycle locker rentals are available. 1003 Spaces.

DOWNTOWN EAST

Located on Washington and Tyler Street between Franklin Street and Del Monte Avenue (340 Tyler St). Best parking for Conference Center and Downtown. Good parking for Fisherman's Wharf and the Marina. Gate operated entrances, accepts coin, bills and Visa or MasterCard credit cards. Monthly permits available. Maximum vehicle height is 6-feet 8-inches. Monthly Bicycle locker rentals. 590 Spaces.

DOWNTOWN WEST

Located at 340 Tyler Street between Franklin Street and Del Monte Avenue. Good parking for Fisherman's Wharf and the Waterfront. Best parking for Downtown. Hourly parking. Visa or MasterCard accepted. For some special events and night entry, a flat rate will be charged at entry. Monthly permits available. Maximum vehicle height is 6-feet 8-inches. 229 Spaces.
There are two free electric vehicle charging parking spaces located in the first floor of this garage.

CALLE PRINCIPAL

Located on Calle Principal between Franklin and Jefferson Streets. Best parking for Colton Hall Museum, Monterey Peninsula Museum of Art, Downtown and City Hall. Pay station with pay-by-space. Visa or MasterCard accepted. Maximum vehicle height is 7-feet. Enforced Monday - Saturday 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. 61 Spaces.

There are two electric vehicle charging stations located at this garage. Each space is per hour to park, 4 hour maximum.

The City of Monterey owns and operates numerous parking lots through out the City that are available for public use. The lots are listed by area, Cannery Row, Downtown, and Waterfront Lots. For parking lots with pay stations, parking is only valid for the specific lot as indicated on the ticket.

Cannery Row Area

CANNERY ROW LOT 7 (CR7)

Located on Irving Avenue (160 Irving St) between Foam and Wave Streets. Best parking for the Aquarium and Cannery Row. No RV parking available. Pay-by-space pay station, flat rate for all day, after 4:00 PM. Visa or MasterCard accepted. Enforced everyday 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM. 103 Spaces.

LOT #21

Located between Foam Street, Cannery Row and Reeside Avenue. Best parking for San Carlos Beach Park, Cannery Row, Coast Guard Pier and the Recreation Trail. RV and trailer parking allowed. No unattached trailers are allowed to be parked in the lot. Pay Station, per hour, all day, Truck & Trailer per hour, all day. Visa or MasterCard accepted. BREAKWATER LOT

Located by the Coast Guard Pier at the south end of Cannery Row. Change available. Best parking for Cannery Row and the Recreation Trail. RV and trailer parking allowed. MARINA LOT (WF#2)

LOT 6
Located at the head of Fisherman's Wharf. NO long term public parking spaces available. The lot has six permit only parking spaces, five 30-minute public loading zone spaces and one disabled parking space.
