Public Service Grants

Objectives and Scope

The City of Monterey’s Housing Programs Office distributes funds to non-profit organizations providing community services to low- and moderate-income Monterey residents through its annual community services grant funding process.

Each year, non-profit organizations can apply for a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG). Agencies may be awarded a Grant based upon the target population and services they provide. Documents are posted in Adobe PDF  unless otherwise noted.

Planning Commission Recommendation and City Council Approval of Draft Fiscal Year 2022/23 Action Plan for Community Development Block Grant Program

The City of Monterey Planning Commission will hold a public hearing at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, March 22, 2022 to consider a recommendation to the City Council for adoption of the City’s Draft 2022/23 Annual Action Plan. The City Council will hold a second public hearing April 19, 2022 to consider adoption. Both public hearings will be held on ZOOM.  Public comments regarding the City’s Draft 2022/23 Annual Action Plan for the use of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds will be reviewed. The views and comments of residents, public agencies and other interested parties will be considered in developing the final documents.

These documents are required by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) in order for the City to obtain federal Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) and other affordable housing funds. The City will adopt the 2022/23 Action Plan to establish the housing and community development strategies, priorities and budget for the next Fiscal Year that begins on July 1, 2022.  The Draft 2022/23 Action Plan will be available for public review beginning March 18, 2022, on the City’s website at: www.monterey.org/housing

The Final Annual Action Plan is scheduled to be submitted to HUD by May 15, 2022.

Any questions about the Annual Action Plan should be directed to Grant Leonard at (831) 646-3995 or email: housing@monterey.org
