About - Resolution
The Croatian city of Dubrovnik is one of the most prominent tourist destinations in the Mediterranean Sea. Known as the "Pearl of the Adriatic", Dubrovnik is in the Dalmatia region. Dubrovnik has several important monuments and many old buildings, such as the Arboretum Trsteno, the oldest arboretum in the world, dating back to 1492. The third oldest European pharmacy is located in Dubrovnik. Many of Dubrovnik's Renaissance buildings were destroyed by the earthquake of 1667 but fortunately a few of the buildings survived and they give an idea of the city's architectural heritage.

Monterey and Dubrovnik, 2006

Dubrovnik is one of six Croatian cities paired with cities in the United States. This is part of the USAID's $16 million Local Government Reform Program that supports local governments throughout Croatia to improve services and adjust to new challenges stemming from decentralization. Thanks in part to the sister city partnership and inspired by the sporting events held in Monterey, Dubrovnik now hosts an annual half marathon, the inaugural event taking place on May 10, 2015.
