The City of Monterey will be accepting applications for the Special Event Grant Program until 5:00 p.m. on Friday, February 17, 2017 for events scheduled during Fiscal Year 2017-2018 (July 1, 2017 through June 30, 2018).

On January 20, 2017 at approximately 6:05 a.m., Monterey Police Officers were dispatched to an automobile accident in the area of Skyline Drive and Wyndemere Way in Monterey.
Monterey, CA. – The Monterey City Council is encouraging Monterey residents to apply to serve on the following Commissions or Committees:
The Architectural Review Committee (ARC), the Colton Hall Museum & Cultural Arts Commission (CHMCAC), the Historic Preservation Commission (HPC), and the Parks and Recreation Commission (PRC). Each serves as an advisory capacity to the City Council.
Dennis the Menace Playground at the Lake El Estero Park Complex in Monterey will close for sidewalk upgrades beginning Monday, January 23rd. The playground is planned to re-open by the beginning of spring break, Saturday, March 18th, although weather impacts may affect the re-opening date.
The Monterey Fire Department is adding new members to its ranks. Nine firefighter recruits will start an academy on January 9, 2017, to fill existing vacancies and several added positions. This group represents some significant achievements for the Department as it is the largest and most diverse group of Firefighter Recruits ever hired by the City of Monterey. “I am proud of the fact that we were able to find a highly qualified group of recruits,” said Chief Panholzer.
Cannery Row has installed new street signs as another distinct branding for the historic and picturesque shopping and dining district.
