06/14/2017: DUI Collision Arrests

On June 13, 2017 at approximately 9:30 a.m., Officers were dispatched to the 100 block of Tide in Monterey reference a head-on traffic collision with injuries. One of the drivers, identified as John Mendoza, 20, of Marina, ran away from the scene. Mendoza was contacted a short distance away by a police officer.

For the 22nd year, 7-Eleven is working with local police and Sheriff’s departments to distribute free Slurpee drink coupons to children and youth through its popular Operation Chill community-service program.

06/01/2017: Armed Robbery Arrest

May 28th, 2017 at 12:35AM, Monterey Police Officers were dispatched to the 300 block of Tyler Street in Monterey for a robbery.  Two victims had been walking though the area when they were approached from behind and knocked to the ground by the suspect.  The suspect took a purse from one of the victims and threatened to shoot them with a firearm. No firearm was actually observed.  The suspect fled on foot and was then observed driving away in a vehicle.

  • Pacific Street Sidewalk Reconstruction Phase 2 - 1100 block - See Project Info - Work expected to last into early Dec. (NIP)
  • MEASURE P STREETS: Citywide Street Resurfacing/Slurry Phase 5 - Currently markings, striping, and additional cleanup to complete.
  • Wharf II Pile Replacement & Repair - Critical repairs continue. Completion expected some time in December. (CIP)
  • Cal Am Monterey Pipeline Project (Non-City Project) - also see www.watersupplyproject.org/
    Installation of the new 36” water pipeline continues on Fitch Avenue in the Presidio of Monterey continues. Work hours are 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Traffic controls and parking limitations will be posted. Work will suspend Thursday, November 23 for the Thanksgiving holiday and resume on Monday November 27. Nighttime construction work in downtown Monterey continues on Webster Street and Munras Avenue Sunday - Thursday, between the hours of 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Traffic controls will be posted.
