The Zumbini program combines music, dance and educational tools for 45 minutes of bonding, learning and fun! Zumbini classes always include a parent or legal guardian for each child. After registering, please contact Group Exercise Coordinator, Lauri Ataide at 646-3739 or ataide@monterey.org for instructions on how to purchase the $35 Zumbini class bundle needed for class (includes songbook/lyrics for class songs and a plush doll modeled after the main character). All other class instruments/equipment will be provided.

08/17/2017: Musicians Wanted

The Monterey Community Band welcome’s all musicians that can read music well, provide their own band instrument and can commit to making rehearsals and performances. The new season begins Monday, September 11, 2017. Rehearsals are held on Monday evenings at the Monterey High School Music Room. Down Beat is at 6:45 p.m. Band Director is Kristen Thompson. The band performs at two concerts yearly and community events as well.

08/15/2017: Vehicle Collision

On 8/15/17 at 12:18 AM, a single vehicle collision occurred in the 2100 block of Del Monte.  The vehicle was traveling eastbound on Del Monte when it left the roadway and struck a low wall.  The resultant damage to the vehicle caused it to immediately catch fire with the sole occupant driver still inside.

08/15/2017: Pacific Street Exit from Lighthouse to Close for Measure P ADA and Street Reconstruction, Sep. 6 through Oct. 6

The Pacific Street off-ramp from Lighthouse Avenue will be closed from Wednesday, September 6th through Friday, October 6th. The full closure affects the Pacific Street exit from Lighthouse up to the pedestrian overhead bridge.

Participants are encouraged to submit photos in any of the three categories; environment - sky, beach, mountain, park and wildlife; architecture - urban design, cityscapes, landmarks and infrastructure; and culture & community - people of all ages involved in sports, art activities and enjoying special events.

Monterey Car Week is one of the biggest annual events on the Peninsula. This year it begins on August 11. Tens of thousands of visitors are expected, and with them, additional traffic and parking impacts. A comprehensive guide and interactive map will be available beginning Tuesday, August 8 at seemonterey.com/carweek and linked from monterey.org to help residents navigate the busy week.   • Wharf II Pile Replacement & Repair - Base job completed. Crews currently on site for additional work. (CIP)
  • MEASURE P STREETS: Citywide Street Resurfacing/Slurry Phase 5 - The schedule for the slurry resurfacing portion of work will begin Oct. 23 and take through Nov. 11 to finish the striping. Notifications and specific schedules expected next week and will be posted as soon as they are available. MAP OF STREETS - SEE SPECIAL NOTICE FOR MORE DETAILS
  • MEASURE P: ADA Ramp and Street Reconstruction Phase 4 - Pacific Street Exit from Lighthouse Avenue closed. This work also closes Artillery Street. Drivers will need to use Bolio Road. NIGHT WORK (8 PM to 6 AM along Lighthouse curve will close one lane from Oct. 9 - 18. Paving of Pacific and Artillery on Monday, Oct. 16. Striping, markings to complete before a definitive open date.
    SEE MAP OF ACCESS FOR HISTORY FEST, OCT. 14 AND 15
    - El Dorado Street between Major Sherman Road and Alta Mesa. Paving work is completed; median work still to complete.
  • Lower Presidio Historic Park Accessible Walkway up to the Sloat Monument (NIP) - estimated completion date in early November.
  • Cal Am Monterey Pipeline Project (Non-City Project) - also see www.watersupplyproject.org/
    Pipeline construction in New Monterey will progress on Spencer Street between McClellan and Drake. Night work in downtown Monterey will continue Sunday through Thursday on Hartnell Street moving toward Webster Street. DETAILS Night-work is between the hours of 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. A second crew in New Monterey will progress on Spencer Street between Prescott and Drake.
