03/12/2019: Homicide and Arson Arrest

On Thursday, March 7, 2019, at approximately 3:26 PM, Presidio of Monterey (POM) Police and Fire responded to a structure fire on POM property at 412 Brittany Road Seaside. Upon extinguishing the fire, a deceased male was located inside the residence along with evidence the fire may have been set intentionally. Due to the condition of the body, the cause of death and identity was not immediately known.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City of Monterey has prepared a Negative Declaration, pursuant to the requirements of CEQA, for Monterey Bay Opportunistic Beach Nourishment Program.  The proposed Negative Declaration and Initial Study, as well as referenced documents, are available for review at the City of Monterey, Planning Office, Colton Hall, 1st Floor, 570 Pacific Street, Monterey, CA 93940 and on the City website at: www.monterey.org/planning. In accordance with time limits mandated by State law, written comments on this Negative Declaration and Initial Study will be accepted from:

February 1, 2019 to March 4, 2019

Public hearing date to be determined.

On December 28th, 2018, the Peninsula Regional Violence and Narcotics Team and the Seaside Police Department conducted a probation compliance check in the 1700 block of Laguna Street in Seaside. During the compliance check, two handguns, cocaine, over 800 counterfeit prescription pills, a scale, packaging materials and over $5,000 cash were seized.
