Request for Proposals - Alta Mesa Historic Context Statement and Intensive Survey

The City of Monterey (“City”) received $24,750 in grant funding from the State Office of Historic Preservation (OHP) for the preparation of the Alta Mesa Historic Context Statement and Intensive Survey. The City will contract with a consultant meeting the Secretary of the Interior’s Professional Qualifications for historian or architectural historian as set forth in 36 CFR part 61, Appendix A, to develop a Historic Context Statement and conduct a reconnaissance level survey of the area inclusive of the Alta Mesa Residential Neighborhood and Abrego Street and Fremont Street commercial corridors.

The survey area consists of the Alta Mesa Residential Neighborhood which includes several commercial properties along Abrego and Fremont Streets.  The survey area is approximately 171 acres in size and contains 163 properties.  Surrounding the survey area is the Downtown to the north, the Monterey Visa Neighborhood to the west, the Del Monte Shopping Center to the south, and Monterey Peninsula College to the east.
