On March 4, 2021 the Monterey Police Department responded to reports of numerous daytime vehicle burglaries occurring throughout the city. Victims reported finding their vehicle windows shattered and personal items missing. Vehicle burglaries were reported at the following locations:

  • 2 in the 2600 block of Sand Dunes.
  • 1 in the 500 block of Tyler.
  • 1 in the 400 block of Cannery Row.
  • 1 in the 700 block of Cannery Row.
  • 1 in the Breakwater Cove parking lot

March 13, 2021 marks one year since the City Manager declared a local emergency due to the coronavirus. In heartfelt memory of the community lives lost to Covid-19, and in admiration, appreciation, and care to healthcare workers, public safety workers, teachers, all frontline workers including those in grocery, farm, non-profit, businesses, partner agencies, as well as anyone struggling financially or otherwise due to the pandemic, the City of Monterey City Council and Staff wish to say, “We care and we hope you feel supported. Thank you for helping us get through this crisis. We continue to make good progress, as we start to see signs that the end of the pandemic is in sight. 02/24/2021: Firearms Arrest

On February 11, 2021 at approximately 10:35 a.m., a Monterey Police Officer attempted to perform a traffic enforcement stop on a vehicle for a violation of the California Vehicle Code in the area of Del Monte Avenue and Virgin Avenue. The vehicle did not yield to the officer and continued driving. After driving approximately five blocks, the vehicle yielded in the 400 block of English Avenue. NEWS RELEASE IN PDF
