11/23/2020: Sexual Batter on Recreation Trail

On Friday, November 20, 2020, at approximately 6:40 a.m., Monterey Police Department officers were dispatched to the recreation trail near the area of 2600 Sand Dunes related to a sexual battery. A female was jogging on the recreation trail near Del Monte and Ramona when she was grabbed from behind. The unknown suspect groped the female. From now through Thanksgiving Day, enter to win a Monterey 250 commemorative poster celebrating Monterey's 250th birthday that took place on June 3, 2020. Participants can win their choice of a DownTown or Cannery Row 18x24 illustrated print designed by local Santa Cruz poster artist Kirby Scudder. Three winners will be drawn each day.   • Historic Preservation Commission
  • Museums and Cultural Arts Commission
  • Parks and Recreation Commission
  • Neighborhood and Community Improvement Program (NCIP) Committee*

* Applications are being accepted for the NCIP committee for the position of alternate for the following neighborhoods: Aguajito Oaks, Alta Mesa, Deer Flats, Del Monte Beach, Del Monte Grove Laguna Grande, and Glenwood

CHP Monterey Leads Seat Belt Safety Campaign

The California Highway Patrol (CI-IP) Monterey Area, and participating Monterey County law enforcement agencies, will kick off a Click It or Ticket seat belt enforcement mobilization, reminding everyone that seat belts save lives. Click It or Ticket combines enforcement with a public awareness campaign on television, and social media in both English and Spanish. In an effort to spread the word about the importance of buckling up, the enforcement mobilization will be from November 15-21, 2020. NEWS RELEASE IN PDF
