Notice of Public Hearing before the Historic Preservation Commission

The Historic Preservation Commission will review the following item at the November 14, 2019 Historic Preservation Commission meeting:

Recommend that the City Council Adopt the Alta Mesa Context Statement and Reconnaissance Survey.  Exempt from CEQA (Section 15308)

Date and Time of Meeting: November 14, 2019 at 4:00 p.m.

Meeting Location: City Council Chambers, Few Memorial Hall of Records, Pacific & Madison Streets, Monterey, CA 93940 (Please refer to the final agenda to confirm the time and date of this public hearing.)

Anyone wishing to address this matter may appear in person at the time and place noted above, or submit their comments in writing to the Planning Office, City Hall, Monterey, CA 93940 on or before the hearing date.  If you have any questions regarding this notice or if you would like to review the survey, please contact Senior Associate Planner Chris Schmidt of the Planning Office at (831) 646-3885.

The City of Monterey is looking for community input as it develops an updated five-year plan for housing and the Community Development Block Grant program. The City anticipates receiving approximately $5 million in funds over the next five (5) years. Public input is needed to understand community needs and to set funding priorities.
Activities eligible for Block Grant funding include:

  • Community services
  • Homelessness
  • Affordable housing
  • Improvements to public infrastructure and facilities
  • Economic development assistance

10/08/2109: Armed Robbery

On 10/07/19 at 9:47 PM Monterey Police Officers were dispatched to a report of an armed robbery that occurred in the area of Beach Way and Spray Avenue. Two victims reported they were walking together on foot through the area when they were confronted by two male suspects. One of the suspects was armed with a handgun which was passed back and forth between the two suspects. The suspects stole personal items belonging to the victims and fled in one of the victims’ cars. The stolen car was later recovered unoccupied by the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office on Canario Street in Salinas. NEWS RELEASE IN PDF
