NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City of Monterey has prepared a Mitigated Negative Declaration, pursuant to the requirements of CEQA, for the Iris Canyon Sediment Removal Project.

The proposed Mitigated Negative Declaration and Initial Study, as well as referenced documents, are available for review at the City of Monterey, Planning Office, Colton Hall, 1st Floor, 570 Pacific Street, Monterey, CA 93940 by appointment and on the City website at: https://monterey.org/Planning. In accordance with time limits mandated by State law, written comments on this Mitigated Negative Declaration and Initial Study will be accepted from:

City of Monterey Launches Operation Outreach

Starting the week of March 16, the City of Monterey launched Operation Outreach, a citywide effort to support Monterey's most vulnerable populations, including older adults and the immune-compromised, during the COVID-19 pandemic. The closure of city facilities, including the Monterey Sports Center, Scholze Park Center (formerly the Monterey Senior Center), Monterey Public Library, as well as other community centers and museums, has resulted in a need for our vulnerable populations to connect in other ways than in-person. CITY OF MONTEREY PUBLIC NOTICE CALL FOR SEALED BIDS
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City of Monterey invites sealed bids for furnishing the following:  USAG POM Pavement Repair 2019 IJO POM 19-037.  In general, the work consists of, but is not limited to, the demolition of existing curb ramps and installation of ADA compliant curb ramps, pavement grinding, spot repair, and roadway rehabilitation (overlay and full-depth reclamation), utility cover adjustment, pavement marking and traffic lines installation, and miscellaneous related work.

SPECIAL NOTICE REGARDING PUBLIC MEETINGS - see monterey.org/coronavirus for more information

To help slow the spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus):

  • MEETING CHANGES: The frequency and length of public meetings, including the City Council, boards and commissions, will be minimized. Non-urgent and non-essential City business with expected public feedback will be postponed.
  • SOCIAL DISTANCING AND ASYMPTOMATIC: Individuals attending public meetings in person will be required to maintain appropriate social distancing, (i.e., maintain a 6-foot distance) and be free of symptoms related to COVID-19.
  • WATCHING FROM HOME: Members of the public are strongly encouraged to observe the live stream of the City Council and other Boards and Commission meetings on the Monterey Channel at https://monterey.org/tv or on television on Channel 25. Rebroadcasts are also available on the Monterey Channel.
  • COMMENTING ON AN AGENDA ITEM: If you choose not to attend a City Council meeting but wish to make a comment on a specific agenda item, please submit your comment via email by 5:00 p.m. on the Monday prior to the meeting. Please submit your comment to the City Clerk at cityclerk@monterey.org. Your comment will be placed into the record at the meeting.

Draft Plans Available for Community Development Block Grant Program

Draft Plans Available for Community Development Block Grant Program

The City of Monterey is pleased to announce the release of the Draft 2020-2024 Consolidated Plan and 2020-2021 Annual Action Plan for the Community Development Block Grant Program. Conpletion of the plans is required for the City to receive federal Community Development Block Grant funding. This funding supports the City's efforts to improve affordable housing, support local non-profits serving the City's residents, and fund improvements to community facilities, City parks and facilities operated by non-profits serving City residents. 

The plans will be available for a public comment period ending with a City Council hearing on April 24, 2020.
