Communities including Monterey must find unique ways to celebrate the Independence Day holiday this year, as traditional events were cancelled months ago due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We can all still enjoy the 4th of July with careful celebrations that maintain physical distancing, and by everyone wearing masks, refraining from large social gatherings, washing hands thoroughly and often, and taking other health officer directives to reduce the spread of the virus. Remaining diligent and taking the necessary precautions will help our community defeat COVID-19. People celebrating in small groups at the beaches, parks, and other public locations are asked to pick up all garbage including used masks and gloves. NEWS RELEASE
