Enjoying Our Beautiful Parks?
The City of
Monterey Parks Division is devoted to
maintaining our city parks with drought tolerant
plants, minimal pesticides and and efficient
irrigation techniques. The
Parks and Forestry Division does an incredible
job maintaining our parks and recreational
trail.
Did you know that
the Monterey Parks Division has discontinued
using pesticides or herbicides at or near any
children's park since February 2008?
City wide the use of
the herbicide Roundup has been reduced by half
and the Parks Division is continuing to use
fewer chemicals citywide, shifting to organic
fertilizers and herbicides, such as clove oil
and lemongrass oil.
