The Monterey Police Department (MPD) has received a grant from the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) to conduct Impact Inspection. The objective of the inspection was to conduct visits of licensed premises to reduce alcohol related crimes in and around licensed establishments.

On June 13, 2017 at approximately 9:30 a.m., Officers were dispatched to the 100 block of Tide in Monterey reference a head-on traffic collision with injuries. One of the drivers, identified as John Mendoza, 20, of Marina, ran away from the scene. Mendoza was contacted a short distance away by a police officer.
This summer, the Monterey Police Department will be dispensing well-deserved Slurpee justice to good kids in Monterey. For the 22nd year, 7-Eleven is working with local police and Sheriff’s departments to distribute free Slurpee drink coupons to children and youth through its popular Operation Chill community-service program.
The Monterey Police Department (MPD) is excited to announce the implementation of the Coplogic online crime reporting system. This is another way the MPD is leveraging new technologies to better serve the community and provide a contemporary policing model.

As a community dedicated to environmental stewardship, the City of Monterey will join the State of California to reduce power consumption between 9 a.m. and 11: 30 a.m. on August 21; the day the first total solar eclipse visible in the contiguous United States since 1979 will temporarily darken skies across the country.

STUDY SESSION meetings are used to provide information to the City Council and answer their questions to clarify issues. Study Sessions provide a setting for informal discussions between staff, consultants, board, commission, committee members and the City Council regarding specific programs, projects or policies. Council does not take formal action on the items.
