The California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) is attempting to eradicate the Light Brown Apple Moth (LBAM) by spraying a pheromone over parts of California. The first aerial spraying occurred on the Monterey Peninsula in September and October of 2007.
Aerial spraying for the LBAM is a matter of scientific debate and citizen concern. Because of the controversy and concerns, the City of Monterey created this Web page with links to the agencies, communities and citizens involved in the debate about the safety and efficacy of the spraying.
This page is an informational resource for our residents, businesses and visitors.
