California History Room

California History RoomThe California History Room contains a unique collection of books, selected magazine and newspaper articles, maps, government documents, photographs and archival material pertaining to the City of Monterey and the Monterey Peninsula. Computers and Internet

Laptop Users Monterey Public Library offers 13 public workstations, 10 laptop computers for use in the Library, and free wireless Internet access. Library Web pages provide Subject Guides and useful links to recommended sites.  Kids' pages are linked to selected sites appropriate for the whole family. Discover & Go

Discover & Go provides passes to museums and other cultural and educational institutions  that can be printed online. As a Monterey or Pacific Grove Public Library cardholder, you have access to numerous museums and institutions throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. We hope to add Monterey area institutions soon. This unique program allows library users to make reservations online by date or by venue and print out a pass. Customers without Internet access can reserve and print out a pass at the library.

Meeting Rooms

Teen Services

TeenZone SignThe Library welcomes and provides a variety of services for teens. These include our TeenZone space that invites teens to socialize, study, and find books, graphic novels, audiobooks, DVDs, and magazines especially selected for teens. Events are offered throughout the year, including after school programs, contests, a summer reading program, and an open Teen Advisors Group that helps improve library services to teens. All librarians work with teens to help with school research, reading suggestions, and other information. Youth Services

Storytime The Library offers a full range of professional services to children of all ages and their families, including reading readiness, homework and school project resources, information, and assistance with reading selections. The Born to Read program celebrates the birth of your baby and helps babies and their families get a head start on a lifetime of reading with storytimes and special activities.
