Want tips and tricks to maximize your usage? Would some one-on-one assistance get you going? Our Library Technology Volunteer Steven will help! War Comes Home: An Afternoon of Poetry & Prose

The Library presents an afternoon of poetry and prose exploring what it is like to go to war, based on the book, "What It Is Like To Go To War", by Karl Marlantes.  Readers include Bill Michael, Jo Todd, Oscar Hernandez and Victor Henry.  Adults and mature teens are invited to attend, and admission is free.  

This is the first of four "California Reads" presentations on this topic, funded through a grant from CAL Humanities.

The Literary Circle

The Literary Circle will discuss The Round House by Louise Erdrich on Monday, September 29, 6:30 p.m., in the Community Room.  This revered chronicler of Native-American life takes us to the Ojibwe reservation in North Dakota where a teenager seeks justice and understanding in the wake of a heinous crime.  Read the book and come prepared to join in the lively, congenial discussion facilitated by Library staff. 10th Annual Chocolate & Wine Tasting Benefit

Friday, February 20, 2015, 7 - 9 p.m.

The Friends of the Monterey Public Library will present their 10th annual Chocolate & Wine Tasting Benefit on Friday, February 20, 7 - 9 p.m.  Celebrate a Decade of Delicious Decadence with wine tasting, chocolate cakes, brownies, petit fours, chocolate fountain, cookies, and many other delights both sweet and savory.  Held throughout the Library, the event includes live music, a silent auction, balloon pop, raffle, and more fun than anyone should be allowed to have in the Library!  Tickets go on sale in November, and may be purchased at the Library Help Desk, $30 in advance or $35 at the door.  Must be 21-up to attend.
