Officer Ron Blair – Officer of the Year, 2012 Minimize

Monterey Police Department Field Training Officer Ron Blair has been selected as the Monterey Police Department’s 2012 Police Officer of the year.  Ron joined the department in 1995 where he quickly demonstrated his commitment to serving others.  During his tenure at Monterey, Ron has worked patrol both as an officer and as a Field Training Officer, was a motor officer, worked our DUI unit, and served on our Community Action Team where he patrolled our downtown and the Coastal Trail.

Ron is being recognized as a model officer, someone who demonstrates an unparalleled level of commitment and drive. Throughout his career, Ron has been someone to whom others sought advice and assistance. Whether in his formal capacity as an FTO or merely in a one on one conversation with a peer, Ron always finds time to help develop those around him by sharing his knowledge and experience.

The Monterey Police Department places a strong emphasis on Service to others. He is not only an outstanding member of the Monterey Police Department but also a fine example of the wonderful men and women who make up our chosen profession, law enforcement.

Please join me in congratulating Field Training Officer Ron Blair, the Monterey Police Department’s 2012 Police Officer of the Year.

Yvonne Perez – Professional Employee of the Year, 2012 Minimize

Administrative Assistant Yvonne Perez joined the Monterey Police on April 18, 2012 after having worked in as a part time employee in the City’s Recreation Department. She came to work at my Department to assume the responsibility for permitting taxi cabs and drivers operating within the Monterey County Regional Taxi Authority. Yvonne quickly took control of the program and now manages approximately 200 drivers and 120 taxis annually. She has demonstrated her commitment to providing exceptional services to not only the Monterey community but to a large portion of the County.

Her strong work ethic and attention to detail have earned her recognition from a variety of others.  She was recently commended by the Monterey-Salinas Transit Regional Taxi Authority for her outstanding work and permit processing expertise.  Yvonne was also chosen by the City of Monterey Human Resources Department to assist with the current Police and Fire recruitment process.  She now splits her time between both Departments and performs admirably in both capacities.

We recognize Yvonne with this award because of her dedication and willingness to serve the Department, the City and the greater community.  She is a valued member of the Monterey Police Department family and an exceptional public servant.
