  • Monday, August 1: Free Public Screening of Citizen Cane
  • Tuesday, August 2: Free Monterey Pops Concert with Organist or Silent Movie with Organist
  • Wednesday, August 3: Ticketed Show featuring Michael McDonald in concert
  • Thursday, August 4: Free Public concert featuring young Monterey area artists
  • Friday, August 5: Ticket Show featuring the Monkees in concert (it’s their 50th Anniversary Tour)
  • Saturday, August 6: Free Public Party Celebrating 90th Anniversary

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City of Monterey has prepared a Negative Declaration, pursuant to the requirements of CEQA, for City of Monterey Lighthouse Specific Plan, Repeal of Lighthouse Area Plan, Rezoning Portions of the Lighthouse Specific Plan Area From Community Commercial (C-2), Public Semi Public, Residential Single Family (R-1-15) to Planned Community Lighthouse,  Amend Monterey Code to Delete Lighthouse Area and New Monterey Parking District from Monterey City Code Chapter 38 Article 18 Section 38-114.G and Chapter 32 Article 7 Section 32-67 and Amend Monterey City Code Chapter 38, Article
18 Section 38-114.F to Reference the Downtown Parking District

The proposed Negative Declaration and Initial Study, as well as referenced documents, are available for review at the City of Monterey, Planning Office, Colton Hall, 1st Floor, 570 Pacific Street, Monterey, CA 93940 and on the City website at: www.monterey.org/planning. In accordance with time limits mandated by State law, written comments on this Negative Declaration and Initial Study will be accepted from:

Great Pacific Race: Monterey to Hawaii, June 4

New Ocean Wave

The Great Pacific Race is the world’s ultimate endurance challenge. Ocean row boats of two and four crew compete against others from around the world in an epic journey on the world’s largest ocean from Monterey, California to Waikiki, Hawaii.
The race start is scheduled for Saturday June 4th at 9am from Monterey. You can watch the teams leave the Monterey Harbor at 8 a.m. or watch the race start from Cannery Row at 9 a.m. The start line is a line between the radio-mast on McAbee Beach and the start boat moored half a mile offshore.

New WaveNew Wave is an aquatic themed exhibition featuring the work of emerging artists from the Monterey Bay area. The purpose of New Wave is to provide developing artists who are beginning their professional career an opportunity to showcase their skills and raise funds for the Monterey Arts Council’s Local Emerging Artist Program (LEAP). Through a juried exhibition, artist’s panel discussion and online marketing, New Wave will effectively showcase and promote the talents of the artists featured.
