The Monterey Firefighters Association played host to 25 children from the Alisa Ann Ruch Burn Foundation’s 5th Annual Aquarium Sleep Over. The children, many of whom were severely injured by burns, enjoyed dinner, toured the fire truck, fire engine, fire boat, and the United States Coast Guard 47 foot Motor Life Boat.

Armed Robbery Suspects Sought

On March 3, 2015 at 10:29 PM, two unknown male suspects, one armed with a handgun, and one armed with a knife walked up to a male and female in the 700 block of Spencer and demanded money. One of the victims was robbed of his wallet. The suspects were last seen fleeing on foot towards David Avenue.

Since November of 2014, the Monterey Police Department has been working directly with local service providers in a collaborative effort to help reduce homelesness and assist those most in need in our society. This collaborative effort, the Monterey Homeless Exchange, currently consisting of the Police Department and 12 social service providers, meets monthly to directly impact the city's homeless population by helping specific individuals get more direct access to available resources.
