The Azerbaijan Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Consulate General of Azerbaijan in Los Angeles organized the event. Monterey and Lankaran, Azerbaijan are sister cities.

The City of Monterey, the Old Monterey Business Association and the Monterey County Pops! will host a full day and evening of festivities for the entire family this July 4th. The popular Fourth of July Parade returns to downtown Alvarado Street, along with the Big Little Backyard Bar-B-Que and Entertainment Extravaganza at Colton Hall on Pacific Street, and a Patriotic Concert at the Golden State Theatre. Events begin at 10:00 a.m. and continue until 8:30 p.m. All events are free to the public and alcohol free.
