BEACH CLOSURE: SEWAGE SPILL Wharf One, Monterey

Beach adjacent to Monterey Bay Coastal Trail     
When:  10/29/2014, 6 pm
Where: Wharf One, Monterey Beach adjacent to Monterey Bay Coastal Trail
What:  A section of the beach adjacent to Monterey Bay Coastal Trail near Wharf One in Monterey has been closed due to a sewage spill that resulted from a sewer pipe leak.  The spill was estimated at 50 gallons and occurred sometime during the day of Wednesday October 29, 2014. The beach will remain closed until samples indicate that the water is again safe for contact according to state guidelines. Contact with contaminated water may cause gastroenteritis and other water borne illnesses.

City of Monterey

The City of Monterey, Monterey Regional Stormwater Management Program, California Coastal Commission and Save Our Shores are asking for your help in this year's Coastal Clean Up Day. Join us and thousands of volunteers on September 20th to clean up our beautiful beaches, parks, waterways and neighborhoods, and prevent trash from causing harm to our oceans, to wildlife, to our coastal economies, and even to beach-goers. Clean up will go from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at various locations.
