On Monday, October 10, 2016, at approximately 4:13 am, Seaside police officers and Detectives from the Monterey Peninsula Regional Violence and Narcotics Team (PRVNT) responded to the 1200 block of Ord Grove Avenue in Seaside on the report of a shooting inside a residence.

The failure of Pinnacle Workforce Solutions is actively being investigated by the Monterey Police Department in partnership with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and the Monterey County District Attorney’s Office. The investigation is in its earliest stages and the detailed reasons for Pinnacle’s collapse are still unclear. In order to fully understand the nature and scope of the matter, the investigating agencies are seeking some preliminary information from Pinnacle’s former clients.

The Architectural Review Committee (ARC), the Colton Hall Museum & Cultural Arts Commission (CHMCAC), the Historic Preservation Commission (HPC), and the Parks and Recreation Commission (PRC). Each serves as an advisory capacity to the City Council.

10/06/2016: Signing Ceremony Marks New Agreement Between the City of Monterey and POM, Tues., Oct 11

The Presidio of Monterey (POM) will enter into a new five year agreement with the City of Monterey’s Presidio Municipal Services Agency (PMSA) for the delivery of municipal services. A signing ceremony for this Intergovernmental Support Agreement (IGSA) will take place in front of Colton Hall on Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at 2:30PM. Speakers include Congressman Sam Farr; Honorable Katherine Hammack, Assistant Secretary of the Army; Colonel Lawrence Brown, Garrison Commander; Mayor Clyde Roberson and Monterey’s City Manager Mike McCarthy.

Monterey was recognized today as Tom Hanks and Tom Brokaw joined Senator Elizabeth Dole in Washington, DC to launch Hidden Heroes, a groundbreaking campaign created by the Elizabeth Dole Foundation to call vital attention to America’s 5.5 million military and veteran caregivers.

    Daytime tree removal at multiple locations along Holman Highway 68. This work will require traffic control with flagging, so delays are anticipated.
    Work hours are 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.:
    - Tue. and Wed. 05/30 and 5/31 Eastbound Holman Highway 68 at CHOMP
    - Thu. 06/01/17 Eastbound Holman Highway 68 between CHOMP and Skyline Forest Drive
    - Fri. 06/02/17 westbound Highway 68 at Crocker Ave
  • Cal Am Monterey Pipeline Project (Non-City Project) - also see www.watersupplyproject.org/
    Construction will resume on Jefferson Street and then mid-week will move onto Monroe Street in Monterey. Pipeline installation in Seaside will continue onto Hilby. Pipeline installation in Seaside will continue Fremont Boulevard and Wheeler Street.

  • Highway 68/Highway 1 Roundabout (monterey.org/hh68)
    Next Tuesday night (May 30), crews will close the southbound Highway 1 off-ramp and the section of roadway between Holman Highway 68 and the southbound Highway 1 onramp from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. in order to complete the removal of the traffic signal and reconfigure the intersection.
    During the closures:
    Drivers from Monterey wishing to go towards CHOMP/Pacific Grove will need to continue south on Highway 1 to make a U-turn at either Carpenter Street or Ocean Avenue and return to Holman Highway 68 via northbound Highway 1.
    - Drivers from CHOMP/Pacific Grove wishing to go south on Highway 1 towards Carmel will need to continue on northbound Highway 1 and make a U-turn at Munras Avenue or Aguajito Road and return to Carmel via southbound Highway 1. - Drivers from Pebble Beach will be able to make a right turn only out of the Highway 1 Gate towards Carmel.
    - The morning of Wednesday, May 31, the intersection will be controlled by yield signs. | MAP
