The City of Monterey today announced the appointment of hospitality veteran, Doug Phillips, as General Manager of the Monterey Conference Center. Spanning a distinguished 30-year career in the hospitality industry, Phillips has served as Director of Sales & Marketing for the Town and Country Resort & Convention Center in San Diego, Executive Assistant Manager/Director of Sales & Marketing for the Monterey Plaza Hotel & Spa, Director of Operation and Director of Sales & Marketing for Mauna Kea Beach Hotel and worked with other properties in California, Hawaii, Washington and Colorado.

08/23/2016: PRVNT Armed Robbery Arrests in Greenfield

On Friday, August 19,2016, in response to recent Armed Robberies of three gas stations committed in Monterey County, a search warrant was served at two locations in the City of  Soledad and one location in the City of Salinas. The Greenfield Police Department, in partnership with the Peninsula Regional Violence and Narcotics Team (PRVNT) conducted a joint investigation resulting in the arrest of Julian Gasca for the armed robberies.

Construction of the Holman Highway 68 Roundabout will require night-time road construction from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. on the nights of Wednesday August 24 and Thursday August 25.

For the public who have purchased a reduced monthly roundabout bus pass from Monterey- Salinas Transit, the City of Monterey is offering a monthly packet of 20 entries for the East Garage at 50% discount ($20). To purchase the discounted parking, the MST bus pass must be shown at the time of purchase. Only one monthly packet will be sold per MST bus pass. For more information, please call the Monterey Parking Division at 646-3953.

08/11/2016: Intersection of Franklin and Van Buren Streets to Close for Sewer Work, Aug. 15 - 16

The intersection of Franklin and Van Buren streets will be closed portions of Monday and Tuesday, August 15 and 16 for sewer work. Additionally, Van Buren between Franklin and Jefferson will be closed to through traffic for the remainder of the week. Detours and a traffic control plan will be in place and parking in the area will be affected. The work is part of package 3 of the Sewer Rehabilitation Project happening citywide.
