10/26/2016: Bicycle Sharing Program Community Survey - The City of Monterey Needs Your Input

The City of Monterey needs your input on how a bicycle sharing program would work best in Monterey. The City is evaluating if a bicycle sharing program can be an alternative to other modes of transportation. Bicycle sharing will connect people, who prefer not owning a bike, to workplaces, academic and military institutions, and other cities in conjunction with local public transit.

On Monday, October 10, 2016, at approximately 4:13 am, Seaside police officers and Detectives from the Monterey Peninsula Regional Violence and Narcotics Team (PRVNT) responded to the 1200 block of Ord Grove Avenue in Seaside on the report of a shooting inside a residence.

10/12/2016: Failure of Pinnacle Workforce Solutions

The failure of Pinnacle Workforce Solutions is actively being investigated by the Monterey Police Department in partnership with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and the Monterey County District Attorney’s Office. The investigation is in its earliest stages and the detailed reasons for Pinnacle’s collapse are still unclear. In order to fully understand the nature and scope of the matter, the investigating agencies are seeking some preliminary information from Pinnacle’s former clients.

The Architectural Review Committee (ARC), the Colton Hall Museum & Cultural Arts Commission (CHMCAC), the Historic Preservation Commission (HPC), and the Parks and Recreation Commission (PRC). Each serves as an advisory capacity to the City Council.

10/06/2016: Signing Ceremony Marks New Agreement Between the City of Monterey and POM, Tues., Oct 11

The Presidio of Monterey (POM) will enter into a new five year agreement with the City of Monterey’s Presidio Municipal Services Agency (PMSA) for the delivery of municipal services. A signing ceremony for this Intergovernmental Support Agreement (IGSA) will take place in front of Colton Hall on Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at 2:30PM. Speakers include Congressman Sam Farr; Honorable Katherine Hammack, Assistant Secretary of the Army; Colonel Lawrence Brown, Garrison Commander; Mayor Clyde Roberson and Monterey’s City Manager Mike McCarthy.

    California American Water to begin concrete paving work on North Fremont Street; Weather permitting, sections of the roadway between Airport Road and Canyon del Rey will be reduced to one lane for approximately four weeks beginning Monday, April 24 2017. SEE NEWS RELEASE FOR FULL DETAILS Pipeline installation will also continue on High Street in Monterey, past Franklin toward Jefferson Street.   • Highway 68/Highway 1 Roundabout (monterey.org/hh68) Night Work Sunday April 23 During the next stage of construction, additional congestion is expected in the eastbound direction along Holman Highway 68 because there will not be a dedicated right turn lane towards the southbound Highway 1 on-ramp. Also starting on Monday at 6 a.m., there will be no left turn out of the Pebble Beach Highway 1 Gate for approximately 5 weeks. This no left turn restriction will be in place 24 hours a day for the 5 week period. Here's what you need to know for entering and leaving Pebble Beach during the 5 week left turn restriction:
    - Highway 1 gate exit will be right turn only
    - Highway 1 gate entrance will remain fully open
    - To get to northbound Hwy 1 or westbound Holman Hwy 68, all drivers will need to use another gate, or the detour route.
