May 28th, 2017 at 12:35AM, Monterey Police Officers were dispatched to the 300 block of Tyler Street in Monterey for a robbery. Two victims had been walking though the area when they were approached from behind and knocked to the ground by the suspect. The suspect took a purse from one of the victims and threatened to shoot them with a firearm. No firearm was actually observed. The suspect fled on foot and was then observed driving away in a vehicle.
On May 25, 2017, the Monterey Police Department (MPD) along with the Alcohol Beverage Control (ABC) conducted a minor decoy operation, “Shoulder Tap” subsequent to receiving a grant from the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control.

The City of Monterey received $377,000 from the California Office of Emergency Services (OES) last week, specifically to reimburse for the Monterey Fire Department’s response to the Soberanes Fire.
