The Monterey Police Department Records Lobby will be closed for construction on July 6, 2017 and is expected to reopen mid-August 2017. A temporary Records lobby will be located in the modular building in the rear Police parking lot. The temporary lobby will be open Monday through Friday, between the hours of 9 a.m. and 6 p.m.

The City of Monterey was honored with two awards and a third nomination at the Clean Air Leaders Awards Ceremony last night, hosted by the Monterey Bay Air Resources District. The awards recognize initiatives undertaken by individuals, organizations and agencies in Monterey, San Benito and Santa Cruz Counties.

06/21/2017: 4th of July in Monterey - Monterey Hosts a Full Day of Festivities, Tuesday, July 4, 2017

The City of Monterey, the Old Monterey Business Association, Monterey County Pops!, and the Monterey Firefighters Association will host a full day of events for family, friends and the whole community this July 4th. Monterey Firefighters will begin the day with a pancake breakfast at Fire headquarters. The festivities continue with the popular downtown Fourth of July Parade, followed by the Big Little Backyard Bar-B-Que and Entertainment Extravaganza on the Colton Hall lawn, topped off with an evening of patriotic music at the Golden State Theatre. These events are open to the public and alcohol free. Events begin at 7:00 a.m. and continue until 8:30 p.m.
     “There’s no better place to enjoy the birthday of our country than Monterey, the birth place of California,” said Mayor Clyde Roberson. “We look forward to joining both residents and visitors in a day-long celebration of our city and country.”

06/20/2017: The City of Monterey Welcomes New Human Resources Director

City Manager Mike McCarthy today announced the appointment of Allyson Hauck as the City’s new Human Resources Director. Hauck was previously a partner with the law firm Renne Sloan Holtzman Sakai LLP in San Francisco, practicing in the areas of labor and employment law. She served as the Chief Negotiator for public agencies during collective bargaining with represented employees; the City of Monterey being one of her clients.

  • Cal Am Monterey Pipeline Project (Non-City Project) - also see www.watersupplyproject.org/
    Crews will continue pipeline construction in New Monterey on Lily Street. Additional curb, gutter, and sidewalk work will take place on Fairgrounds Road, and Fremont Street in Monterey.

  • Highway 68/Highway 1 Roundabout (monterey.org/hh68)
    Crews will focus on landscaping, installing additional signs, and completing the trench drain at the driveway to Carmel Hills Professional Center. No closures or detours are planned, but there will occasional shoulder closures for the signs to be installed and occasional flagging for the landscaping work. The Live Camera is Back!   • Monterey Bay Aquarium Education Center Construction (Non-City Project) Periodic and Brief Delays on Recreation Trail at Hoffman Avenue Weekdays, July 2017 to Fall 2018
    Days the contractor will be pouring cement, requiring trucks to unload adjacent to the building site and the closure of Hoffman Avenue, starting at 7:30 a.m. and finishing by 4:00 or 5:00 at latest: (Here's the schedule in PDF)
