The Monterey Police Department Records Lobby will be closed for construction on July 6, 2017 and is expected to reopen mid-August 2017. A temporary Records lobby will be located in the modular building in the rear Police parking lot. The temporary lobby will be open Monday through Friday, between the hours of 9 a.m. and 6 p.m.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City of Monterey has prepared a Negative Declaration, pursuant to the requirements of CEQA, for the City of Monterey Detention Basin Management Project.  The proposed Negative Declaration and Initial Study, as well as referenced documents, are available for review at the City of Monterey, Planning Office, Colton Hall, 1st Floor, 570 Pacific Street, Monterey, CA 93940 and on the City website at: http://www.monterey.org/Services/Planning. In accordance with time limits mandated by State law, written comments on this Negative Declaration and Initial Study will be accepted from:

  • Alvarado Street Light Replacement - 26 street lights between Bonifacio and Del Monte - Replacing fixtures with LED lights that are energy efficient and have a very long lifespan. Conforms to the Downtown Master Plan and has dimming capabilities. Starts Monday and expected to take four to six days. Little to no impacts to thoroughfare or noise level. This work was deferred one week. (CIP)
  • Pearl Street Bridge Improvements - replace walk path - in progress (CIP)
  • 442 Casanova Avenue Sidewalk reconstruction, stump removal, curb and gutter ADA work all week (CIP)
  • 300 Block of Belden Street Widening Week two of 6 to 8 until completion - SEE CONTRACTOR SCHEDULE AND NOTICE (NIP)
  • MEASURE P: ADA Ramp and Street Reconstruction Phase 4 - El Dorado Street between Major Sherman Road and Alta Mesa. Traffic will be impacted for about three weeks. Work will continue through October. SEE SCHEDULE (Littlefield later in Aug, Pacific in early Sep) (Measure P)
  • MEASURE P STORM DRAINS: Citywide Storm Drain Repairs Phase 3 - Walter Colton Drive done - next up - Soledad Drive at Soledad Place - potential road closure at times - dates still to be determined
  • MEASURE P SIDEWALKS: Citywide Sidewalk Repair Phase 3 - Small sections on Pacific, Tyler and Polk streets
  • Wharf II Pile Replacement & Repair - Pile driving continued. Impacts to parking and traffic on the wharf. SCHEDULE in PDF (CIP)
  • Veteran's Park Bocce Ball Court Contractor done; City crews now working on landscaping, signage, other misc. (NIP)
  • Police Department Lobby Upgrades See news release for details Lobby expected to re-open mid August.
  • Cal Am Monterey Pipeline Project (Non-City Project) - also see www.watersupplyproject.org/
    Paving will continue on North Fremont Street between Ramona and Hilby avenues. Northbound and Southbound traffic will be reduced to one lane in areas where construction is taking place. Work will begin on an underground water main installation at Withers and Lily Streets, starting the first week of August. It is anticipated to take approximately 10 business days. Construction will occur between the hours of 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays only. Parking and traffic will be limited. Traffic restrictions will be posted.

  • Highway 68/Highway 1 Roundabout (monterey.org/hh68)
    Night work on guardrails that will require lane closures near 17 Mile Drive, on the southbound Highway 1 off ramp, and along southbound Highway 1 under the Holman highway 68 overcrossing, but no detours are required for this work.
    Tuesday and Wednesday(10 a.m. - 3 p.m.)
    Crews will be pouring concrete for the last splitter island on the southbound Highway 1 off-ramp. This work will require closing the right turn lane of the southbound Highway 1 off-ramp (going towards Pacific Grove) from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. Drivers going towards Pacific Grove from the southbound Highway 1 off-ramp will need to proceed to the roundabout and make a right turn onto westbound Holman Highway 68.
    Wednesday and Thursday There will also be flagging during the day at the entrance to Carmel Hills Professional Center for drainage work.
