08/23/2016: PRVNT Armed Robbery Arrests in Greenfield

On Friday, August 19,2016, in response to recent Armed Robberies of three gas stations committed in Monterey County, a search warrant was served at two locations in the City of  Soledad and one location in the City of Salinas. The Greenfield Police Department, in partnership with the Peninsula Regional Violence and Narcotics Team (PRVNT) conducted a joint investigation resulting in the arrest of Julian Gasca for the armed robberies.

For the public who have purchased a reduced monthly roundabout bus pass from Monterey- Salinas Transit, the City of Monterey is offering a monthly packet of 20 entries for the East Garage at 50% discount ($20). To purchase the discounted parking, the MST bus pass must be shown at the time of purchase. Only one monthly packet will be sold per MST bus pass. For more information, please call the Monterey Parking Division at 646-3953.

08/11/2016: Intersection of Franklin and Van Buren Streets to Close for Sewer Work, Aug. 15 - 16

The intersection of Franklin and Van Buren streets will be closed portions of Monday and Tuesday, August 15 and 16 for sewer work. Additionally, Van Buren between Franklin and Jefferson will be closed to through traffic for the remainder of the week. Detours and a traffic control plan will be in place and parking in the area will be affected. The work is part of package 3 of the Sewer Rehabilitation Project happening citywide.

Young entrepreneurs, ages 6-17 years, will be selling their used toys, games, clothes, and other items at great prices! Booth space goes quickly and is limited so sign up early. Children vendors under 12 must be supervised by an adult. Booth registration begins Monday, August 15, 2016 and ends Wednesday, September 21, 2016. Admission is free to the general public.

    Night Time Construction Wednesday and Thursday - Construction of the Holman Highway 68 Roundabout will require night-time road construction from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. on the nights of Wednesday, August 24 and Thursday, August 25. The construction work will require traffic control and flagging through the intersection of Holman Highway 68 and the southbound Highway 1 on and off ramps. Emergency vehicles will have full access through the work zone at all times. Motorists should expect delays of approximately 10 - 15 minutes. Sign-up to receive email notifications: www.tamcmonterey.org. TAMC will send a weekly “look-ahead” with info about the construction, road closures, detours, traffic conditions and travel options.
