City Manager Mike McCarthy today announced the promotion of Julie Porter to Finance Director. She has served in an Acting Finance Director role on multiple occasions from April 2013 to May 2014.
The Fiscal Year 2017-2018 season for the Neighborhood Improvement Program (NIP) is now open. Residents can submit their projects using the NIP Project Nomination Form, available at monterey.org/NIP. Forms are also available in the Engineering Office, 580 Pacific Street, Room 7, or call (831) 646-3887.
Monterey, CA - Senate Bill 2 (2007) requires jurisdictions to identify areas where emergency shelters for the homeless would be permitted without requiring public notification. The City of Monterey is seeking community input on the best location to fulfill this requirement. The City's Planning Commission will host this discussion on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers - 580 Pacific Street. Monterey Recreation is now taking registration for Winter/Spring programs.
The City of Monterey needs your input on how a bicycle sharing program would work best in Monterey. The City is evaluating if a bicycle sharing program can be an alternative to other modes of transportation. Bicycle sharing will connect people, who prefer not owning a bike, to workplaces, academic and military institutions, and other cities in conjunction with local public transit.
